Edge Suites™ are a specialized layer within the Baccous Micro-Edge Smart Neighborhood Node™—intelligent, extended-stay environments designed for clarity, calm, and automation-supported living.

These suites allow Baccous to study how medium-duration guests (typically 30+ days) interact with environmental intelligence, automation, and robotics in real time.

They are not a product line.
They are active prototypes inside the living lab.

Purpose

To understand how intelligent environments behave when residents:

  • stay longer than typical short-term guests,

  • don’t fully “settle in” like long-term residents,

  • and still expect hotel-level simplicity and ease.

Edge Suites sit in the middle of the residency spectrum and generate unique environmental signatures for Baccous Intelligence™.

Edge Suites operate as full Smart Asset OS™ environments, including:

  • Smart locks for seamless, time-bound access

  • Smart thermostat comfort automation with guest-friendly setpoints

  • Sunrise/sunset exterior lighting for safe, predictable arrival and departure

  • Interior lighting routines tuned for morning/evening transitions

  • Environment-reset patterns between stays

Comfort & Media Environment

Extended-stay guests rely heavily on comfort and entertainment. Edge Suites are configured with:

  • Smart TVs and standard TV upgraded to a smart-enabled experience

  • Unified streaming + media setup

  • Wi-Fi optimized for work + entertainment

  • Stability-focused comfort routines for longer stays

  • Visual calm and sensory clarity in layout and lighting

Robotics Fleet

Robotics are a core part of the Edge Suites prototype:

  • Robot vacuum + mop robots mapped to suites

  • Automated cleaning cycles between stays

  • Optimized docking and charging locations

  • Observed navigation patterns in compact residential layouts

The goal is a low-touch, high-cleanliness environment that resets gracefully between residents.

Research Focus

Environmental Patterns for 30+ Day Stays

How comfort, lighting, and movement patterns evolve for residents who are:

  • not just “passing through,”

  • but not fully “permanent” either.

We examine:

  • temperature preferences & override behavior

  • light usage across rooms and TVs

  • peak times for movement and activity

  • how quickly residents adopt environmental routines

Automation Adoption & Preferences

Extended-stay residents give us a rich window into:

  • which automations “just work” and are left alone

  • which settings guests frequently override

  • how much control vs. simplicity they prefer

This feeds directly into Smart Asset OS™ design and Baccous One™ interface logic.

Robotics Efficiency Between Stays

Edge Suites are ideal for testing:

  • how quickly and cleanly robots can prepare a suite between residents

  • which layouts minimize robotic friction

  • how often robots should run in low-occupancy vs. high-occupancy periods

  • the best sequences for vacuuming, mopping, and spot cleaning

Environmental Reset Protocols

We use Edge Suites to prototype “environment reset” routines:

  • lighting conditions for arrival

  • comfort setpoints on first entry

  • media and screen off-states

  • automation rules that return the environment to a calm, default baseline

This becomes foundational for future Baccous OS™ environment-reset features.

Roadmap

Future work with Edge Suites includes:

  • Robotics sequencing tuned specifically for turnover cycles
